This post will walk you through the process of activating your Ultra Mobile SIM card. A SIM card is typically activating with a new number or with a transferred number form another carrier. Either option you choose, this post will guide you through the activation process.
Please note that Ultra Mobile offers two types of SIM cards.
- Regular SIM card ( purple ). Requires payment for the first month of service in advance
- Preloaded SIM card ( orange ). Equipped with the first month of service. No required payment upon activation.
The activation process for the two types of SIM cards differs slightly. Activating a preloaded SIM card is faster because it comes equipped with the first month of service; therefore, payment is not due until next month.

We will start by activating Ultra Mobile’s purple SIM card online, or you can skip to activating preloaded SIM.

6. Pay for your first month of service
Since we are activating a purple SIM card, a credit card is needed to successfully activate the Ultra Mobile SIM card.
Finally, the last step is to program your APN data settings so that you can access the internet (it isn’t as complicated as it sounds).
